Starting on the historic Royal Mile, we'll delve into the castle's history, from its origins as a medieval fortress to its transformation into a royal palace and military stronghold. Along the way, you'll learn of the castle's many treasures, including the Honours of Scotland (the country's crown jewels), and the famous One O'clock Gun.
So whether you're a history buff, a fan of Scottish culture, or simply looking for an unforgettable experience, join us on our extended Castle Tour and discover the secrets and stories of one of Scotland's most iconic landmarks.
The tour lasts approximately 2-hours.
We also recommend allowing a further 60 minutes on site to explore the 13 independent museums and the exhibits (not accessible during the tour).
In the summer Season (April - September) Edinburgh Castle is open until 18:00
In the winter season (October - March) Edinburgh Castle is open until 17:00

We recommend that guests who chose to take part in this experience have a moderate level of fitness as we are on our feet for most o the tour and there are a number of uneven and sometime slippery surface that need to be navigated.
